Breaking: Mbappe Not Fit to Start for Real Madrid in Copa del Rey Final vs Barcelona

As anticipation builds ahead of tonight’s Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Real Madrid fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on the fitness of star forward Kylian Mbappe. Unfortunately, the French sensation will not be in the starting XI.

Mbappe has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury during Real Madrid’s Champions League home defeat to Arsenal earlier this month—a match that ultimately ended their European campaign. He was subsequently absent from La Liga fixtures against Alaves and Getafe.

While there was optimism earlier this week after Mbappe returned to training and made the squad for the final in Seville, those hopes have now been dampened.

Fitness Concerns Persist

According to Radio MARCA, despite participating in light sessions, Mbappe has not fully recovered and remains short of full match fitness. He underwent further tests earlier today, but the decision has now been made to leave him out of the starting lineup.

Instead, Carlo Ancelotti is expected to field Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo as the primary attacking duo. While this comes as a setback for Los Blancos, the medical team and coaching staff are wary of rushing Mbappe back and risking a more severe injury.

Having scored crucial goals throughout the season since arriving from PSG, Mbappe has been a game-changer for Real Madrid. But tonight, he’ll have to make his impact—if any—from the bench.

Ancelotti will now rely on the rest of his talented squad to take on their fiercest rivals and secure silverware without their marquee signing leading the line.
